Last week, we held the AACC Annual Fall Meeting in person, which included meetings of the board of directors and AACC’s nine commissions. We had rich conversations about enrollment challenges, federal legislation, student success initiatives, and more. I’m so grateful for everyone who serves on our board or on an AACC commission. These meetings help us to better understand the work you’re doing and the challenges you face.

A deep dive into data helped officials at Florida’s Broward College understand who they were reaching and, more importantly, who they weren’t. It led to the Broward UP program, which just received a groundbreaking $30 million federal grant. Read about it in CC Daily.

AACC Annual Registration is Now Open
The 2022 AACC Annual will be held April 30–May 3 in New York, NY. Registration is now open. Keynote speakers include Stephanie Land, author of MAID, and David and Jonah Stillman, a father and son Gen X / Gen Z speaking team. All attendees must be fully vaccinated and be prepared to show proof of vaccination, and a daily negative health screening questionnaire to participate in AACC Annual.

Send Your Workforce Development Staff to WDI 2022
AACC’s 2022 Workforce Development Institute (WDI) will be held January 26–29 in Jacksonville, Florida. Registration is now open. WDI gathers together new and seasoned community college-based workforce and economic development professionals to discuss innovative strategies and promising practices in workforce and economic development
On November 4, I was pleased to join AACC Board Chair Richard Rhodes and Past Chair William Serrata in honoring the 2020 and 2021 outgoing board members at a special event at the National Museum of African American History & Culture.
