Over the past 6 years, AACC and AASA, The Superintendents Association, have held meetings to discuss college and career readiness. They’ve been valuable opportunities to hear about successful partnerships between community college leaders and K-12 superintendents. This week, we convened an online meeting and discussed the growth of dual enrollment. My sincere thanks to our participants, including AACC Board Chair-Elect and Austin Community College Chancellor Richard Rhodes, Superintendent of Schools at Round Rock ISD Steve Flores, St. Louis Community College-South County Manager Julie Loyet, and Mehlville School District Director of College and Career Readiness John DeWalle.

AACC’s Equity Transfer Initiative
With funding from the ECMC Foundation and Ascendium Education Group, AACC will design and implement an Equity Transfer Initiative (ETI) to improve transfer rates of African American, Hispanic, and adult students from 2-year to 4-year institutions. The ETI will be delivered in partnership with the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU). Twenty teams of community colleges and 4-year institutions will be selected to participate in this 3-year initiative consisting of establishing a minimum of five transfer pathways, implementing equity-based interventions to support transfer, and receiving coaching and technical assistance to enhance existing transfer initiatives and implement new initiatives. The Request for Proposals will be released this October.
