Last week, I participated in AACC’s Workforce Development Institute (WDI). I heard a lot about the future of work, about the need for upskilling, about apprenticeships and artificial intelligence. What was made clear—and what we’ve all known for a long time—is that collaboration is the key to success. When we bring everyone to the table—employers, funders, government agencies, and other outside organizations—our students have the greatest chance of success and our communities will thrive.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming a major force in how companies hire and retain workers, according to corporate leaders at a session at AACC’s Workforce Development Institute. Learn more in CC Daily.
The Latinx Studies program at Holyoke Community College helps students connect with Latinx history and prepares them for work with diverse communities and cultures. Read about it at the AACC 21st Century Center.

Voting for the 2020 AACC Board of Directors opens on February 3. The slate including all individuals running for the board is available now on the AACC website. An email including username and password information needed for voting was sent today (January 31) to the designee for each eligible member institution. If your college is an AACC member institution and the designee (typically the CEO) did not receive the voting credentials, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Ballots will be emailed to each member on February 3 from email@example.com.
The AACC Annual Convention is a great professional development opportunity for all community college staff and faculty. For every five employees that register together from a member college, AACC will offer the sixth base registration free. That discount expires February 5 at 5:00 p.m. (ET), so register your team today using code 5ORMORE. We’ll see you March 28-30 at National Harbor, Maryland. Check out the video below to learn more about the convention.
