Like you, AACC is working on its reopening plan, knowing full well that things could change rapidly. The unknown is difficult to navigate. As I have said previously related to the pandemic, leaders have to be willing to embrace ambiguity. I’ve read countless articles lately predicting what the future of higher education might look like, but the truth is, no one really knows what the next few months or years will hold. We can only make decisions based upon the information we have now, and as long as we keep in mind our mission to serve students and our communities, we will get through this.
Unlike other sectors, community colleges serve a vital role in developing our workforce. While this is a different challenge for our institutions, community colleges are resilient, and I am convinced that our colleges and students will come out of this COVID-19 era stronger than ever.
