Season 10, Episode 12: Moving a Community College Forward
Jim Jacobs is an educator, researcher, president and radical. That’s also part of the title of his new book, “Moving a Community College Forward: My Story as an Educator, Researcher, President, and Radical,” which is part autobiography/part history of the community college movement. In this episode of CC Voice, Jacobs discusses his long career at Macomb Community College in Michigan, where he started in 1967 as a part-time instructor and activist, and retired as its president in 2017. He’s also one of the nation’s foremost researchers and practitioners in workforce development at community colleges, leading Macomb and its community through major changes to one of its main employers, the auto industry.
