Civil Rights Fraud Initiative: A Legal Perspective Webinar
AACC Members Only – Registration Required
On May 19, the U.S. Department of Justice announced a “Civil Rights Fraud Initiative promising to bring claims under the False Claims Act (FCA) (also known as the Lincoln Law) “against those who defraud the United States by taking its money while knowingly violating civil rights laws.” The FCA includes steep penalties for violations and monetary incentives for private citizens to bring FCA claims known as “qui tam suits.” This FCA enforcement initiative is likely to have significant impact on colleges and universities that must certify compliance with federal civil rights laws. Join AACC’s president and CEO, Dr. Walter G. Bumphus and Holland & Knight partner and legal expert, Paul G. Lannon, to learn more about the legal aspects of this initiative, FCA claims, and what this new initiative means for community colleges. Registration is required.
