Happy New Year! I hope you had some time to relax over the holidays. As you gear up for the new semester, please remember that AACC has resources for you. And if you resolved to participate in more professional development programs in 2018, we can help you with that. We’re hosting a new CEO onboarding seminar in February. There are also several preconvention sessions that can benefit you or your staff. And, as always, the Presidents Academy Summer Institute is a great opportunity to focus on current challenges, emerging trends, and opportunities unique to community colleges.
“Risk-Sharing Plan Could Be Extremely Costly for Colleges”
Community college officials should be acutely aware of a proposal in the House bill to reauthorize the Higher Education Act that would require colleges to return substantial portions of federal financial aid received by students who do not complete a term or other academic period. There’s Still Time: Register for the New CEO Onboarding Seminar
AACC will offer a day-and-a-half program, “A Focus on Success for the First 365 Days of the Presidency: An Onboarding Seminar.” The program is designed for new CEOs and the college’s board chair. Register now to join us for this program in Washington, DC, February 15–16.
Register for the AACC Convention
The AACC Annual Convention will be here before you know it. Register now to ensure that you don’t miss out on hearing from great speakers, attending relevant sessions, and networking with colleagues. See you in Dallas, Texas, April 28–May 1.
Be Honored at the Hail & Farewell Luncheon
The Hail & Farewell Luncheon is AACC’s opportunity to wish a fond farewell to retiring CEOs, as well as hail new and 25-year CEOs. If you fit into one of these categories, submit a form by March 5 so AACC can recognize you. The Hail & Farewell program will take place at AACC’s convention.
Honor Your Outstanding Faculty
The AACC Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty recognition showcases faculty members making a difference in the community college classroom. AACC will accept one faculty nomination from each member college. Distinguished Faculty recipients will be honored at a private reception on April 29 at the AACC Annual Convention. They also will receive a 15% discount off of the current faculty registration rate for the convention, a custom commemorative medal, and more. Nomination deadline: February 15, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. (ET).
