“The College has intensified collaboration with our county sponsor and community partners over the past three years to leverage resources and achieve shared goals. As a result, the College – which attracts one-third of the county’s college-bound high school students – is not only a leader in local higher education but also in regional economic and workforce development and quality-of-life issues. Through a new alliance at our county airport, the college will launch an aircraft maintenance program to fill jobs needed by a regional aviation company. On the noncredit side, more students in our inner city now have access to ESL and HSE programs – and a pathway to credit classes – due to the College’s establishment of a new site that is housed within a multi-agency social and community services building.” — Pamela R. - Robust Service Learning program is in its third year. To date, 1,800 students in 131 classes led by 38 faculty have provided over 16,000 hours of service to 45 local nonprofit agencies.
- E-TECH program with City of Poughkeepsie school district, IBM and Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. is in its third year. Fifty students start each year; retention rate is 98%.
- “Think Ahead” program launched in fall 2017 offers a college experience, life and career skills and on-campus job opportunities to individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Dr. Karen Trovato, 2017 AACC Outstanding Alumni awardee, developed the technology that led to the self-parking car and the predecessor to MapQuest.
