2. CALL FOR PROPOSALS DEADLINE IS APPROACHING
Submitting a proposal for a session at the 98th AACC Annual Convention? The deadline to submit is October 13, 2017, at 5:00 p.m. (ET). AACC is seeking proposals that reflect the best thinking in the field informed by outcomes that demonstrate success.

3. SUBMIT NOMINATIONS FOR AACC AWARDS
The nomination period is now open for the AACC Leadership Award, Outstanding Alumni Awards, and the Awards of Excellence. Nominations for the Leadership and Outstanding Alumni Awards are due October 13, 2017. Awards of Excellence nominations are due November 30. Award recipients will be recognized at the AACC convention.

4. AACC FUTURE LEADERS INSTITUTE
The next AACC John E. Roueche Future Leaders Institute, or Roueche-FLI, will take place December 3-6, 2017, in Washington, DC. It’s aimed at mid-level community college administrators, including faculty, who look to be leaders in their current positions or are ready to move into a higher level of leadership. Funding is available to help cover the cost of the institute. Registration deadline is November 24, 2017.

7. INTERNATIONALIZING THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Community colleges are invited to nominate an international education program for IIE’s 2018 Heiskell Awards for Innovation in International Education in the category of Internationalizing the Community College. The Heiskell Awards showcase the most innovative models for internationalization of campuses, study abroad, and international exchange partnerships in practice today. Nomination deadline: October 13, 2017. And take IIE’s International Enrollment Hot Topics Survey by October 6.

8. SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS
The College Promise Campaign has a scholarship opportunity for students that rewards them for sharing their community college story on social media. Winners of the “Free Community College Story” competition can win up to $2,000 in scholarship money and additional prizes. Deadline to submit stories: October 15, 2017.

10. CONVENING FOR MINORITY-SERVING COMMUNITY COLLEGES
The Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education will welcome college leaders, staff, and faculty to “Minority Serving Community Colleges: Celebrating Student Success,” November 14–15, 2017, in Washington, DC. Register by October 26.
