- Since 2006, Essex County College has had 15 of its graduates receive the prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Transfer Scholarship. That is the most among all 19 New Jersey community colleges. The award provides $120,000 in scholarship money. Essex graduates have used the award to transfer to such four-year universities as Stanford, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, the University of Pennsylvania, Brown and Rutgers University.
- Essex is the only New Jersey community college designated as both a Predominantly Black Institution and a Hispanic Serving Institution.
- The College’s Business Division is accredited by the international Accreditation Council for Business Schools & Programs, one of only two community colleges in the state so recognized.
