Back To Work 50+
In partnership with the AARP Foundation, AACC implements the BACK TO WORK 50+ (BTW 50+) program at five community colleges across the nation. Bevill State Community College (AL), Elgin Community College (IL), Pima Community College (AZ), Tarrant County College District (TX), and Tri-County Technical College (SC) participate in the BTW50+ Classic program. The program’s mission is to help connect Americans 50+ with the support and training needed to transition back into the workforce, advance in their current careers, and build financial security. These goals are accomplished through workshops, individual coaching sessions, computer training, and financial capability coaching.
Back To Work 50+/Women’s Economic Stability Initiative
The AARP Foundation expanded the BACK TO WORK 50+ program with support from a Social Innovation Fund grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service for the Women’s Economic Stability Initiative (WESI). Five community colleges – Austin Community College (TX), Eastern Florida State College (FL), Jefferson State Community College (AL), Miami-Dade College (FL), and Santa Fe College (FL) received funding to expand the lessons learned and best practices from the original BTW 50+ program. The WESI program focuses on helping women 50+ overcome their specific barriers to employment.
