Community College Commitment
AACC has joined a national partnership with Levi Strauss & Co., Lyft, and SHOWTIME/MTV to provide materials, funding, and the opportunity to win a concert on campus for community colleges that participate in specific National Voter Registration Day Events. This newly launched effort aims to increase voting among community college students, namely an additional 500,000 new 2-year college student voters by 2028.
The Community College Commitment is a nonpartisan initiative to narrow the voting gap between students at community college and those at four-year universities. And thanks to the support of Levi Strauss & Co, Community Partner grants will be awarded to support 2024 National Voter Registration Day events held by eligible community colleges across the country on September 17.
Grant proposals must be submitted by May 30 at 11:59 p.m. (ET). Get the criteria and learn how to submit a grant proposal here.
In addition, community colleges can enter the Community College Concert Competition. Participating community colleges that host qualified registration drives or voter education events will be entered to win a live, on-campus concert on Vote Early Day (October 29, 2024) featuring a well-known, surprise music artist, whose name will be announced in the coming months. The competition and concert is a collaboration with Levi’s, MTVE, Good Trouble Collaborative, the Students Learn Students Vote (SLSV) Coalition, the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, and Amplifier.
