Workforce Development

AACC’s Office of Government Relations (OGR) advocates for strong federal support for job training and workforce development programs at our nation’s community colleges. This work includes advocacy around expanding Pell Grant eligibility to short-term workforce programs and bolstering the role of community colleges in the federal workforce development system through reauthorization of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).

Washington Watch: New nursing grants prioritize community colleges The American Association of Community Colleges has advocated in the current Congress to ensure that community college nursing programs begin to receive some of their fair share from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
