POSITION: President of J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College since May 2018
PREVIOUS: Served as the senior vice president for student and educational services at Hudson County Community College (HCCC) in New Jersey, where she spent nearly 16 years of her career. HCCC is a Hispanic-Serving institution that enrolls 12,000 students annually, located in one of the most diverse and densely populated areas of the country. Also worked at Saint Peter’s University in the Student Affairs Division.
AFFILIATIONS: Served regularly on boards including the United Way of Hudson County, and currently serves on the board of directors for Chamber RVA and Venture Richmond. Member of the Advisory Committee (GPAC) and the Council of Presidents (COP) with the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV).
EDUCATION: Ed.D. in educational leadership from Rowan University, an M.A. in education administration from Saint Peter’s University, and a B.A. from Stockton University.
OTHER: Named the NJ Educational Opportunity Fund Champion for r commitment to serving underrepresented student populations. In 2012, recognized by the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders with the Woman Empowering Women through Education Award, and in 2015, awarded the NJ Council of County Colleges Community College Spirit award for statewide leadership on student success initiatives. In 2017, selected as one of 38 community college leaders from across the country for the Aspen Institute’s Presidential Fellowship; a rigorous, 10-month applied leadership program for aspiring presidents.
