July 14, 2023 | Issue # 240
I arrived in Toronto earlier today for AACC’s Presidents Academy Summer Institute. I know that there is no “down time” for college presidents, but it so important to take time away from your campuses to interact with other presidents who understand many of the same issues you may be facing at your college. I’m excited that PASI provides an opportunity to not only learn from experts and each other, but to connect and refresh.
Thank you to AACC’s Presidents Academy Executive Committee, PASI Facilitator Dr. Jerry Sue Thornton, PASI Spouse/Partner Facilitator Dr. Aileen Bumphus, and AACC Chief of Staff Tammy Reichelt for your work on this year’s PASI!
“Course Scheduling Through an Equity Lens”
Effective course scheduling helps colleges retain and graduate their students. It’s also an equity issue. Learn more about effective approaches to course scheduling in CC Daily.
“Preparing Teachers for Texas”
A new bachelor’s degree at a Texas college is aimed at helping to fill teacher shortage. Read about it in the AACC 21st Century Center blog.
Thank you to those of you who applied to be on an AACC Commission. Letters were mailed to new commissioners last week. We look forward to working with you! If you have any questions, please contact AACC Chief of Staff Tammy Reichelt.
Join us July 25 at 2:00 p.m. (ET) for the next Peer-to-Peer session, which will focus on how presidents are planning for the future of their institutions. The discussion will be led by Dr. Sunita “Sunny” Cooke, superintendent/president of the MiraCosta College District in California and chair-elect of the AACC Board of Directors. College presidents are encouraged to come with questions for their peers and to talk about campus successes. This off-the-record discussion is limited to AACC member community college presidents only. Register here.
