There is much uncertainty right now about funding for higher education at the state and federal levels, but there’s little doubt that legislators on both sides of aisle understand the power of Pell. Recently, the Pell Grant Preservation and Expansion Act was introduced in Congress. It would ensure fiscal stability for the Pell Grant program and increase the maximum award. AACC fully endorses this bill, and we encourage you to voice your support, too.
“Governors Support CTE, Job-Training Funding”
The National Governors Association encouraged congressional appropriators not to cut funding for career and technical education and job training programs. Read about it in CC Daily.
Survey Shows Americans Value Community Colleges
According to a survey by New America, Americans appear to have a strong positive view of community colleges in regards to their importance to the workforce, value, and ability to prepare students for success. Statement on Trump Administration’s Budget Proposal
As you know, President Trump released his FY 2018 budget proposal last week. It includes significant cuts to federal student aid programs as well as to programs that fund agencies that provide funding to college programs. You can read my statement on the budget proposal here.
