In July 2026, North Central Missouri College (NCMC) partnered with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America and the University of Central Missouri, in an effort to create a postsecondary pathway for apprenticeship instructors. Current instructors can work toward an associate degree at NCMC and then continue on to a bachelor’s degree at the university, all while still working. The union’s training unit will cover the costs of the training. Officials anticipate the partnership will support 500 instructors annually by 2027. The extra trained instructors can help colleges like NCMC provide more training opportunities to students.
