Edison State, Wilson Health partner on apprenticeship

Edison State Community College, OH

Edison State Community College and Wilson Health, a nonprofit community healthcare system and hospital, have partnered to offer an earn-and-learn apprenticeship for medical assistants. Participating students will gain the education and practical experience needed to become an entry-level medical assistant and help strengthen the workforce across the Miami Valley region. Apprenticeship tasks include scheduling and greeting patients, insurance billing and coding, managing and maintaining medical records, interviewing patients to obtain medical histories and chief complaints, and assisting with examinations. The program prepares students to take the medical assistant certification exam through the American Association of Medical Assistants.
