Montgomery College launched the Collective Impact Institute (CII) in June 2026 to strengthen the college’s capacity to engage in cross-sector efforts that expand opportunity and advance upward mobility for students and the broader Montgomery County community.
Housed within the college’s Advancement and Community Engagement division, the Institute is informed by the collective impact framework, recognizing that complex community challenges cannot be addressed by any one institution or sector alone. The Institute works across education, business, government, nonprofit, philanthropic, and community partners to convene, learn, inform, and catalyze where greater alignment and collective action can add value.
CII builds on Montgomery College’s longstanding role as a trusted community partner and complements the significant work and partnerships already underway across the college. The Institute’s initial work focuses on listening and learning, mapping existing assets and relationships, and identifying opportunities where cross-sector collaboration can strengthen pathways to opportunity and upward mobility.
