At the College of Southern Nevada (CSN), we value the integration of different backgrounds and perspectives among students, faculty, staff, and community members as a way to collaborate and promote creativity, innovation, and growth. This includes Apprenticeship.
The College of Southern Nevada’s Division of Workforce & Economic Development meets the training needs of Southern Nevada’s workforce and employers. The Division works with the region’s business and key industry sectors in the assessment, design and implementation of customized curricula and training programs. Classes are offered in English as a Second Language-ESL (Vocational), GED and HiSET High School Equivalency-HSE (Vocational) and Algebra Refresher; these courses help local workers prepare for the application and interview processes related to Apprenticeship in Southern Nevada.
In support of business and industry, the Office of Apprenticeship Studies works with our Business Development Team to create custom training with a pathway for workers to obtain their Certificates of Achievement (CA), stackable credentials, and access to Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees in their area of emphasis. Increasingly, Southern Nevada business and industry are using the apprenticeship model to attract and build talent and we are active in discussions regarding expansion of apprenticeship into non-traditional fields and industry such as IT, Healthcare, Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics.
At CSN’s Office of Apprenticeship Studies, we believe that through Apprenticeship, employers create quality, highly skilled talent, while developing a more productive, reliable, and profitable workforce. Our commitment is to help address training and retention of the local workforce, while providing foundational skills in support of opportunities for English language learners, people of color, women, and older workers. CSN is a proud partner of Apprenticeship in Southern Nevada.
