The Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH) uses the Banner system as a tool to track registered apprentice data and progress. Banner has been used primarily to track traditional matriculated students enrolled in a certificate or degree program at a NH community college. As the number of registered apprentices enrolled in programs at the colleges began to grow, a process was developed with CCSNH leadership and student services staff at the colleges that would allow for registered apprentice tracking. This strategy helps college faculty track registered apprentices as they progress in completing their related instruction and helps integrate registered apprenticeship into existing systems within CCSNH. As registered apprentices complete their related instruction requirements, having information tracked in Banner makes it easier to support the goal of continuing their education post-registered apprenticeship, putting them on a pathway to certificate or degree completion.
CCSNH staff provide ongoing follow-up services and an open line of communication to existing registered apprentices to bolster and ensure retention and to track up-to-date information and data on registered apprentice progress. This strategy provides staff with important information but also reassures registered apprentices as they work through their training.
