Our new AACC Board of Directors term starts July 1. I look forward to working with the new members of the board, and with our new board chair, Tulsa Community College President Leigh Goodson. Thank you to MiraCosta College President/Superintendent Sunny Cooke for your leadership as chair during the 2024-2025 term. The board will gather in Washington, DC, July 30-August 1 for the summer board retreat and board meetings.

“Workforce Pell Dealt Major Blow in Reconciliation Bill”
The U.S. Senate parliamentarian has determined that provisions in the Senate’s budget reconciliation bill that would establish workforce Pell grants don’t comply with the rules governing the budget reconciliation process. Though this is a major setback, it does not necessarily mean the end of the road for workforce Pell in the bill. Learn more in this CC Daily article.
“Program Reaches an Apprenticeship Milestone”
In 2018, Hinds Community College partnered with KLLM Transport Services and the U.S. Department of Labor to establish a Truck Driver Registered Apprenticeship program. This April, the partners reached a significant milestone of 1,000 apprentices completing the registered apprenticeship program.
