Understanding Financial Management of ATE Awards is a 6-part video series designed to assist new grantees in the fiscal set up and implementation of their National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education (ATE) awards. The video series was created by the American Association of Community Colleges in collaboration with ATE Central and the Mentor-Connect project.
Video 1- GETTING STARTED
In this Getting Started Video, the importance of setting up financial policies and procedures is discussed. Teamwork and communication are emphasized as key to successful grant fiscal management.
Video 2 – BUDGET SET UP
In this video, viewers are encouraged to plan ahead and to consider their own institution’s financial systems and policies when setting up their grant award budgets.
Video 3 – SUB-AWARDS / CONSULTANTS
In this video, grantees are made aware of the responsibilities, requirements, and compliance issues around sub-award agreements and the use of consultants.
Video 4 –TIME AND EFFORT / PARTICIPANT SUPPORT
In this video, coordination of time and effort reporting is discussed as well as the importance of adhering to NSF’s regulations regarding participant support costs.
Video 5 – BUDGET CHANGES / CARRY OVER
In this video, grantees are informed of resources that provide answers to budget questions. NSF’s allowances regarding budget changes, and carry over of funds are considered.
Video 6 – COMPLIANCE / RECORD KEEPING
In this video, compliance of federal regulations is stressed and documentation and record-keeping are identified as tools for transparency and accountability.
