Position: President of MiraCosta Community College since 2015. The single college district serves north coastal San Diego County with four campuses in Oceanside, Carlsbad, and Cardiff.
Previous positions: President of Grossmont College for 8 years; associate vice chancellor for workforce development at Lone Star Community College (TX); and dean of sciences, allied health and wellness at Lone Star-Montgomery College (TX); Biology and Biotechnology faculty member at Lone Star-Montgomery (TX) starting 1995.
Affiliations: Currently serves on the board of National Academies of Sciences Board on Science Education (BOSE); Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE); San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation; California Forward (CAFWD); Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce Board; Biocom Board focused on representing CA biotech and life science companies;
Engagement within state: Chaired the CA Strong Workforce Taskforce to enhance and augment funding for the CA Community College System’s approach to workforce development; serve on the Economic Development/Workforce Development Advisory to the State Chancellor’s office; co-chaired the CEO Leadership Academy 2015-2019 and currently serve on a CEO Professional Development Advisory Committee.

Served on the AACC 100th Anniversary Planning Committee 2019 and the AACC Apprenticeship Taskforce 2019-2020.
