POSITION: Since 2013, served as president of Pratt Community College, a comprehensive community college in Kansas, serving over 3500 students annually.
PREVIOUS: experiences include serving as Campus President for Central Community College in Grand Island, Nebraska for one year, and prior to this position, Dr. Calvert served for twenty years at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas. He was a Dean for fourteen years, primarily overseeing the campuses at Andover, Rose Hill, and McConnell Air Force Base. During his tenure, Mike served as the interim Vice-President of Academic Affairs and interim Dean of the Advanced Technology Center and Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences. He also worked at Independence (Kansas) Community College for five years as an instructor and coach.
AFFILIATIONS: Active in the community serving on civic groups, foundation boards, and economic development; Currently serves on AACC Commission for Academic, Student and Community Development, past service on AACC Commission on Research, Technology, and Emerging Trends, 2014-2016; Vice-President Kansas Community Colleges Council of Presidents; President’s Advisory Council for NJCAA, Past President and Executive Committee member for the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Athletic Conference; Served as Chair of EduKan Board of Directors – Online Consortium; Graduate of Leadership Kansas, Class of 2015; Graduate Class of 2014-15- Leadership 2000+.
EDUCATION: Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration at Oklahoma State University in 2004, Ed. S. at Pittsburg State University in 1996, M.A at University of South Dakota in 1982, and a B.S. at Northwestern College in 1981.
OTHER: A proponent of community college partnerships, Calvert wrote his doctoral dissertation on higher education collaboration with K-12 school districts and private business and industry. He is the author of a book titled: Collaboration: A Case of an Educational and Business Partnership.
