I hope you all enjoyed a relaxing 4th of July. On Independence Day, we have an opportunity to celebrate the things that make our country so great. High on my list are community colleges—democracy’s colleges. Community colleges are uniquely American, delivering educational and economic opportunity for all students in search of the American Dream.

Supreme Court Ruling to Uphold Trump Administration’s Travel Ban Harmful to Students
AACC has issued a statement regarding the Supreme Court’s ruling last week that President Trump has the authority to implement a travel ban restricting entry to the U.S. for nationals from seven countries—mostly Muslim-majority nations. This ruling is disappointing and concerning to AACC and to many in higher education. Read the full statement here.
AACC is currently surveying community colleges to determine the impact on students of the year-round or “summer” Pell Grant. Responses from all community colleges are encouraged. Access the survey here.
