Though a president’s job never truly slows down, this is the time of year when you may have a moment to catch your breath and think about your own professional development. I encourage you all to register for this summer’s Presidents Academy Summer Institute. It gives CEOs an opportunity to talk with peers about trends, challenges, and opportunities facing community college leaders and the institutions they serve. Details are in the “Must Do” section.
“Blunt on Certain Funding Requests”
Much like last year, don’t expect Senate appropriators to go along with everything in the Trump administration’s funding request for education. That’s what Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Missouri), chair of the Senate education appropriations subcommittee, told Education Secretary Betsy DeVos during a hearing before the panel Tuesday on the department’s fiscal year (FY) 2019 request. There’s still time to register for the AACC Presidents Academy Summer Institute (PASI), taking place July 21–24 in Dana Point, California. This annual professional development program for CEOs and presidents of community colleges focuses on current challenges, emerging trends, and opportunities unique to the position.
