The U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services is seeking proposals from higher education institutions, including community colleges, for competitive grants to improve the quality of special education paraprofessional pre-service programs.
Proposed projects should produce graduates who are skilled and knowledgeable in providing help to special education educators and others working with special education children and young adults to use evidence-based practices.
The department expects to award 10 grants of $145,000 to $150,000 annually for up to four years.
Note: The department's electronic application system will be down from 3 p.m. ET on Oct. 20 until the morning of Oct. 26. During this period, applicants will not be able to initiate or work on their application. Printed applications are strongly suggested.
