The National Science Foundation (NSF) has released the details of its FY 2010 budget request to Congress and the news is good for community colleges. NSF has requested $64 million for the Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program, the flagship NSF program for community colleges. This is a $12.38 million, or 24%, increase over FY 09. Furthermore, the NSF notes that this is the first planned increase for the program that would bring its budget to $100 million by 2013.
