On April 25, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared H1N1, the "swine" flu, a public health emergency. Below are resources for campus flu pandemic preparedness:

On Sept. 16, 2009, AACC hosted a free Webinar entitled, "Protect Your College & Students From H1N1 This Fall." The briefing for AACC members was conducted by U.S. Under Secretary of Education Martha Kanter - a former community college chancellor - and Stephanie Zaza, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.P.M., senior advisor in the Coordinating Office for Terrorism Preparedness and Emergency Response at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC issued guidance in August 2009 to help colleges and universities address H1N1 flu. A useful toolkit for communications accompanied the guidance, complete with fact sheets for students, faculty and staff and even posters for campus restrooms. These and a variety of other materials are available at www.flu.gov.
