Going Global 2014 delivers a global forum for world leaders of international education to debate the role the international arena plays in global tertiary and further education policy. Going Global 2014 will be held in the diverse city Miami, the event takes place April 29 – May 1, 2014. Themes for 2014 are Inclusion, Innovation and Impact , the Call for Proposals is now closed, however you can still participate by submitting a poster presentation; to add your perspective to the debate submit a proposal before the deadline of Monday, December 16, 2013. Conference early bird registration opens on Monday, January 6, 2014.
ACE Leadership Network for International Education next meeting will be held on December 17, 2013, in Washington, DC. Sponsored by the American Council on Education, International Student Recruitment: Quick Fix or Lasting Legacy? will cover such topics as the motivations of international students to study in the US, institutional readiness, and the use of recruiting agents. The president or chief academic officer must represent their institution at the Leadership Network, although they are welcome to bring their senior international officer or other campus leader on internationalization.
VETEC International Student Recruitement Fairs, March 21 and 23, 2014, in Can Tho City and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, are expected to draw large numbers of prospecttive students. VETEC’s operation is under a Market Development Cooperator Program award (MDCP) between the International Trade Administration (ITA) and the California Education and Training Export Center. VETEC encourages all accredited U.S. community colleges participate. Pre-arrival services include translation of your marketing materials and online, print and social media marketing of your college. DOC International Student Recruitement Fairs, April 7 -11, 2014, organized by the U.S. Commercial Service at the U.S. Embassies in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland, in cooperation with EducationUSA and the Fulbright Commission, are an terrific opportunity to explore the markets of Central Europe. The fairs will connect U.S. educational institutions with prospective students and potential institutional partners in listed countries. The stops will include embassy briefings, one-on-one appointments with potential partners, student fairs, and networking events in Budapest, Prague, and Warsaw. The Boren Awards for International Study competition is now open. Boren Scholarships provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. The maximum award is $20,000. The application deadline is February, 5, 2014.
Fulbright International Education Administrators Seminars
Competition now open: IEA two-week seminars are great professional development opportunities for international education administrators and other senior-level higher education administrators from the United States to create empowering connections with the societal, cultural and higher education systems of other countries. The next round of IEA seminars are for Germany and France. Both application deadlines are of February 1, 2014.
13th China International Education Exhibition (CQIE), June 21—22, 2014 in Chongqing, is the biggest international education exhibition in southwest China. The event is officially approved by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission and sponsored by Chongqing Education Association for International Exchange. With a large education market, Chongqing Liangjiang New Area has been approved directly by the Central People’s Government of the People’s Republic of China to welcome many international enterprises, including financial firms, software and service companies. Intercultural skills are in high demand. Registration deadline: June 1, 2014.
