 AACC Global Partnership Delegation to New Zealand and Australia 

August 20 – September 4, 2013

The American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) is pleased to lead a delegation of U.S. community college presidents and administrators to New Zealand and Australia, on August 20-September 4, 2013. Delegates will be hosted by Education New Zealand and TAFE Directors Australia (PDF) and the program will focus on the following sectors:  green skills/sustainability, creative technologies (including digital media and visual arts), horticulture, agriculture, and hospitality/tourism. The AACC Global Partnership Delegation is designed to provide you with an opportunity to:

  • Share best practices and innovations in education for the 21st Century.
  • Promote the development of institutional partnerships in workforce development and academic programs, including student and faculty exchange.
  • Attend presentations on international student mobility.
  • Visit a variety of polytechnic and vocational institutions.
  • Experience each country's rich culture.

Delegates may participate in New Zealand or Australia only, or both portions of the trip.

New Zealand

Auckland, August 20-22, 2013

  • Tuesday, August 20 – Arrive in Auckland
  • Wednesday, August 21 – Formal Marae welcome, institutional site visits, official dinner
  • Thursday, August 22 – Coach to Hamilton, institutional site visits

Wellington, August 23-25, 2013

  • Friday, August 23 – Meetings with New Zealand government officials, Hospitality ITO, institutional site visits, official dinner
  • Saturday, August 24 – Free time
  • Sunday, August 25 – Depart Wellington for Sydney, Australia

Australia

Sydney, August 25-27, 2013

  • Sunday, August 25 – Free time
  • Monday, August 26 – Presentation by TAFE Directors Australia, meetings with NSW State Government officials, welcome dinner
  • Tuesday, August 27 – Institutional site visits, industry visit focused on sustainability

Canberra, August 28, 2013

  • Wednesday, August 28 – Meet with Australian Department of Industry, Innovation, Climate Change, Science, Research, and Tertiary Education; AusTrade; Fulbright Commission; and U.S. Embassy

Brisbane, August 29 – September 4, 2013

  • Thursday, August 29 – Institutional site visits
  • Friday, August 30 – Meetings with University of Sunshine Coast, Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE and Wide Bay Institute of TAFE
  • Saturday, August 31 – Free time
  • Sunday, September 1 – Pre-conference workshop: Green Growth and Innovation, Welcome Reception
  • Monday, September 2 – TDA Conference, Gala Dinner
  • Tuesday, September 3 – TDA Conference
  • Wednesday, September 4 – Depart for U.S.

2013 Costs to Delegates

New Zealand Only Registration: $1,500

Registration fee includes trip coordination, hotel accommodation, local transportation, airport shuttles, air travel within New Zealand, and most meals.

Not included:

  • Visa Fees
  • Round trip international airfare to New Zealand/Australia
  • Travel insurance
  • Some meals

Australia Only Registration: $4,800

Registration fee includes trip coordination, hotel accommodation, local transportation, airport shuttles, air travel within Australia, pre-conference workshop and TDA conference registration, and some meals.

Not included:

  • Visa Fees
  • Round trip international airfare to New Zealand/Australia
  • Travel insurance
  • Some meals

New Zealand/Australia Full Package Registration: $6,550

Includes all the above plus airfare from Wellington to Sydney.
