Current Horizons Colleges (2006-2009)
In October 2006, AACC selected eight community colleges to create and support replicable and sustainable models of service learning in the areas of education, public safety, human needs, and the environment. These colleges are developing service learning programs in several disciplines with a variety of community partners, and engaging service learning students in producing multilingual products, services, and resources for community members.

During the course of this project, participants at the eight Horizons mentee colleges have made a significant impact on their communities. As of June 2008, service learning had been incorporated into 92 courses for the first time. Total figures reported by the colleges indicate that 2,305 students performed 55,381 hours of direct community service, worked with 164 faculty and administrators, and affected 430 agencies and schools and approximately 79,233 individuals.
