Program Initiated

Dr. Lawrence Rouse, President of James Sprunt Community College, requested information on similar programs.  Subsequent research was conducted and a model was developed and instituted during the Fall 2007.

Program Funded

2MAP was funded by a grant during the first two years of operation.  During this budget crises James Sprunt remains committed to this initiative and will continue to fund this program from local funding.  The college seeks partnerships and is in the process of seeking grant opportunities.

College President and Administrators Involvement

The President and administrators have been and remain supportive of this initiative.  They are very active and concerned with the targeted population.  The President, Vice Presidents, and other administrators participate in a number of activities.  A unique class and section has been created to promote success for members of this group.

Program Success Story

We were called by a local business for a part time employee.  We sent one of our members and he was hired full time permanent on the spot.  The company has continued to call when they have staffing needs.
