Program Description

Started by Associate Professor of Counseling Lauren Carfagna and Head Men's Basketball Coach Dewayne Walker, CCBC's Student-Athlete Success program focuses on how unique the student-athlete population is to college campuses and helps to bridge the gap between the athlete's academic and their athletics.

Carfagna works with them through small workshops usually every week or every other week each semester to build their academic and social skills. Topics include: goal setting, time management, study skills, career planning, financial planning, and team building.

The Counseling Office also works with faculty at the beginning of each semester to open up lines of communication should they find a student athlete having any issues in the classroom.
