Salary Scale: Salary based on experience and education      $45,000 -$60,000

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

MANDATORY: (M1) Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related program from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning or 3 years of object oriented programming experience (M2) Significant experience in a modern programming language such as Java, .NET or C# (Applicants may be required to demonstrate programming proficiency) (M3) Significant experience with relational databases (M4) Effective communication skills

 

DESIRABLE:  (D1) Experience with one or more scripting languages; PHP, Perl, Python (D2) Experience with Linux or Unix (D3) Experience with Datatel Colleague (D4) Experience with UniData databases (D5) Work experience in Higher Education

POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

PROGRAMMER               

Salary Classification:   Exempt

Responsibilities:    The Programmer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of complex systems on the college’s Student Information System (SIS). The Programmer implements and maintains assigned modules on the SIS. The Programmer coordinates with other areas of Information Technology to integrate external systems with the data contained on the SIS.

Authority:  Acts under the delegated authority and general supervision of the Assistant Director of Computer Services.

Duties:

  1. Works on application development, enhancement, and conversion projects.
  2. Participates in executing system test plans for new releases, patches, and operation system upgrades.
  3. Troubleshoots module problems and recommends solutions or executes repairs.
  4. Translates system specifications into logical processes and prepares module design documents.
  5. Researches and corrects errors in application software.
  6. Provides technical support to the programming staff for effective use of system software and diagnosing software faults.
  7. Researches new developments and improvements in system software and recommends changes or additions as appropriate.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned
