Dean/Chief Academic Officer
The University of New Mexico, Valencia Campus is seeking applications for a Dean/Chief Academic Officer to oversee all academic units of the campus. The position is a 12 month administrative position reporting directly to the Campus Executive Director.
Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia county, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the region and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs, technical vocational programs, Adult Basic Education, and Dual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of over 2,000 credit students per semester.
Summary of duties and responsibilities: We are looking for a dynamic academic leader, team player, problem-solver, student success advocate and an individual with sensitivity to the needs of a multicultural student body in a rural setting. The Dean/Chief Academic Officer will possess a record of excellent leadership and a demonstrated commitment to the college and community at large. The Dean/Chief Academic Officer has overall responsibility for leadership and administration of the instructional program. The ideal candidate will have the qualifications to be appointed at the rank of tenured professor in one of the academic disciplines at Valencia Campus. Primary areas of responsibility include the supervision of academic divisions, library, teaching and learning center, community education, and adult basic education.
Minimum Qualifications: An earned doctorate; a record of effective teaching at the undergraduate level; and at least three years of senior level administrative experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated commitment to collaborative leadership among faculty, students, administration and community and a strong philosophy of the value of two-year colleges. Experience and expertise in strategic planning, faculty governance, enrollment management, two year college academic programs both transfer and technical vocational, collaborative learning, the use of technology in the classroom, online education, dual credit programs and achieved tenure in a college or university department.
Salary: $90,000 – 100,000 depending on education and experience.
