Job Description

PRESIDENTIAL SEARCH

If you are an experienced higher education executive with substantial leadership skills who can collaboratively build on Daytona State College’s solid foundation and achieve long-term institutional success, then here is an opportunity for you.

The District Board of Trustees and the Presidential Search Advisory Committee of Daytona State College, an outstanding public state college with baccalaureate degree granting authority and a comprehensive community college mission, invites nominations, expressions of interest, and applications for the position of College President.

Daytona State College is a remarkable institution with well-qualified faculty, staff and administrators dedicated to student success and the College mission.  It has a significant presence in the community and a well-deserved reputation for quality.  The College offers postsecondary education opportunities to 36,000 students annually.  Located on the east coast of Florida, the College was established in 1957 as Daytona Beach Junior College.  Its current name reflects the expansion of its mission as approved by the Legislature and the College’s Board of Trustees.  Daytona State’s service area primarily encompasses Volusia and Flagler counties, with a combined population of over 600,000.  Daytona State has six campuses and offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs, including nine baccalaureate degrees.  Daytona State enjoys a strong reputation in its service area and has many partnerships with public and private entities.

The College seeks a visionary, dynamic leader who will build upon a tradition of excellence.  The ideal candidate will possess senior leadership experience in an institution of higher education as both a highly skilled executive and as an accomplished educator with an earned doctorate. Other highly desirable qualities include an understanding of  the values and goals of a comprehensive community college, including its commitment to access for all citizens and the advancement of baccalaureate degree granting programs that reflect local and regional needs.  Please see the position Profile for additional qualifications and for information regarding the College, the presidential search, and application procedures at www.daytonastate.edu/presidentialsearch or www.academic-search.com.

Completed applications received by April 20, 2011 will receive full consideration by the Presidential Search Advisory Committee.  Applications received after April 20, 2011 are not guaranteed consideration.
