DEAN OF ARTS & SCIENCES
Chesapeake College is a small comprehensive community college located in Queen Anne’s County, Maryland.
We are seeking an accomplished, energetic, innovative administrator to serve as Dean of Arts & Sciences. Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Economic Development, the dean provides leadership to the division of Arts & Sciences, the largest academic division at the college.
Duties include managing and supervising all operations of the division, including five (5) academic departments, the College’s theatre program, instructional offerings, and operating budget; directly supervising a diverse and professional staff of thirty-six full-time faculty and two non-exempt staff members and having oversight responsibilities
for the paraprofessional staff and approximately sixty-five adjunct faculty per semester. The dean serves as an advocate for the division and the college as a whole. The dean should be comfortable teaching in one of the division’s disciplines, be knowledgeable of current concepts in academic assessment, and be familiar with promising practices in the area of developmental studies. Required Qualifications: Doctorate in discipline within Arts & Sciences. At least five (5) years experience as teaching faculty. At least three (3) years experience in academic administration, department chair. Demonstrated program development skills and experience. Previous community college experience preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including mediation and conflict resolution. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and state of the art electronic technology required.
