Dean of Academic Affairs

(Community College Dean), 12 month

ANTICIPATED STARTING DATE: July 1st, 2011

 

 

MINIMUM

QUALIFICATIONS:   The successful candidate should have a minimum of a Master’s Degree; 6 years of experience in higher education including 3 years supervision and 3-5 years teaching experience. Teaching and administrative experience in a community college is highly preferred. A demonstrated commitment to the mission of the comprehensive community college; highly developed communication and interpersonal relations skills.

Exceptions to the degree requirements may be made for compelling reasons.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Dean of Academic Affairs will perform as the Chief Academic Officer for the institution in a management level role and will work under the general direction and support of the President.  Provide leadership and direction to full and part-time faculty, academic programs, Library, and Learning Center of the college.  Coordinate the development/revision or elimination of programs and courses to provide the high quality programming needed by the region.  Encourages and supports the development of a variety of teaching and learning techniques including use of educational technology by faculty and learning support staff.  Coordinate faculty assignments and approve the development/revision of policies and practices that lead to instructional quality.

COLLEGE:                 Quinebaug Valley Community College is a public two year college supported by the State of Connecticut and governed by the Board of Trustees of Community Technical Colleges. The College is accredited by the NEASC and is one of twelve institutions in the community technical college system. QVCC is located in the Northeastern corner of the state, a rural and beautiful part of Connecticut and New England. 

 

MINIMUM SALARY: $ 100,684 minimum approximate annual salary plus full benefits package.
