The Board of Trustees and Presidential Search Advisory Committee of Genesee Community College (GCC) invite applications and nominations for the position of President of the College. The search will begin immediately and continue until an appointment is made. The new president will assume office no later than July 2011.
The Genesee Community College Presidency offers an extraordinary opportunity to lead one of the nation’s finest mid-sized community colleges. It is a very successful learner-centered comprehensive community college with a strong board, faculty, administration, and staff. It is known throughout its service area for its culture of caring and for very positive working relationships within the college and community. The Chronicle of Higher Education selected GCC as one of the Great Colleges to Work For in 2009. GCC is part of the State University of New York, is sponsored by Genesee County, and also serves Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming counties in Western New York. The College is governed by a 10 member Board of Trustees and has 7,500 students and a 34 million operating budget. Located in Batavia, NY, it is a 30-minute drive to either Buffalo or Rochester and is close to Niagara Falls, the Finger Lakes, and Toronto.
Genesee Community College has been fortunate indeed to have had stable and highly effective leadership for 37 years from retiring president, Dr. Stuart Steiner. The College is seeking a new leader who will be committed to learning the history, culture, programs, and people of GCC and the community and who will also make a commitment to living and working in the community for a substantial period of time. GCC is looking for a leader to bring fresh ideas to build on, not to replace, their very effective programs, services, and management.
