DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Faculty: Administers and supervises the process for faculty selection, orientation, evaluation, professional development, tenure, sabbatical leave, and management in accordance with College policy and contractual requirements. Recommends faculty to the President for hiring, evaluation, retention, tenure, promotion, and sabbatical leave. Academic Administrators: Administers and supervises the selection, orientation, evaluation, and professional development of academic administrators. Budget: Develops and administers the instructional budget in coordination with the Vice President of Finance. Instructional Programs: Organizes and administers the instructional program by surveying curriculum needs, developing new or adjusting existing programs of study, coordinating the approval process, and evaluating program and student learning outcomes. Reviews and clears all matters related to course and program approval and academic policy and procedure. Communications: Informs the President of the progress and activities of the instructional programs and serves as the prime source of communication between the President and the Academic Affairs Division. Assists the President in disseminating information about the purpose and programs of the College. Maintains effective working relationships with peers in the community Colleges, state agencies, and business and civic leaders in the community. College Mission: Leads activities designed to fulfill the academic plan, the College mission statement, and strategic initiatives. Student Services: Cooperates with the Vice President of Student Affairs in activities involving academic affairs as related to student recruitment, registration, retention, and academic advising. Committees: Serves on College committees in accordance with College policies and procedures, shared governance bylaws, and as assigned by the President. ADA Compliance: Serves as the designated ADA Compliance Officer for academic programs and services. College-Wide Leadership: Serves as a member of the President’s Leadership Team. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: A Master’s Degree in an academic discipline from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning or approved foreign institution of higher education. A combination of ten years of teaching and academic administration; including instructional administration and supervision. Demonstrated success in leading an institution in the development and use of instructional technology and distance learning. Preferred: An earned Doctorate in an academic discipline from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning or approved foreign institution of higher education. Professional and administrative experience at a two-year College.
