Johnston Community College (JCC), one of 58 community colleges in the North Carolina Community College System, seeks an experienced leader with outstanding financial, operational and interpersonal skills to serve as its next Vice President for Finance and Administration. Located in Johnston County with its main campus in Smithfield, NC, JCC is the 16th largest college in the North Carolina Community College System and serves approximately 21,000 students each year in college credit and continuing education classes.
The duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to providing leadership to plan, organize, and direct the Administrative, Personnel, and Fiscal Service programs and operations of the College including plant maintenance and operations, safety and security programs, facility planning and construction, auxiliary services operations, budgeting, financial accounting, record keeping, purchasing, materials management, personnel classification, compensation, recruitment, and affirmative action. Also, the position ensures assigned functions fulfill applicable Federal, State, and College goals and objectives, supervises assigned staff, and provides highly complex and responsible staff assistance to the College President and the Board of Trustees. The successful candidate must: demonstrate a strong commitment to teamwork and diversity as well as display outstanding leadership, managerial, technical and interpersonal skills guided by personal integrity; ensure effective and compliant financial systems and practices, share the values and culture of the college; and work effectively with government agencies.
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in Business Administratin, Public Administration, or a related field. Doctoral degree in a related field and CPA preferred. Seven or more years of directly related administrative experience (preferably in a community college setting) including, finance, contract administration, human resources, property and facilities development, overseeing construction projects, and managing facilities. Must have knowledge and understanding of the mission and role of Johnston Community College, its students, faculty and staff. Must have demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with staff, Board, and Community. Must have knowledge of computer related programs pertaining to finance and administration. Must have demonstrated commitment to fostering campus diversity and inclusiveness, and the ability to interact effectively with diverse constituencies. Must have outstanding written and oral communication skills; the ability to synthesize and explain complex information to a wide range of audiences. Must have deomnstrated commitment to engaging in the life of the college community.
