McHenry County College
Crystal Lake, Illinois
McHenry County College (MCC) announces a national search for the position of President. MCC, a public, comprehensive community college was established in 1967 as the 28th community college in Illinois. MCC is located in Crystal Lake, IL and serves the fast growing and increasingly diverse population of McHenry County, the sixth most rapidly-growing county in Illinois. The College enrolls approximately 6,000 credit-seeking students per semester on a full- and part-time basis. It has an operating budget of approximately $41 million and employs a staff of approximately 650, including 93 full-time faculty.
The next President will lead MCC at a compelling and critical time in the history of the college. Physical plant and educational programs are taxed with an ever-growing student population, including adult education. State funding, the College’s third largest revenue source, is down, shifting the funding burden to local taxpayers and students. The next President will work to establish creative programs and alliances, as well as financing, to enable the college to continue to successfully meet its mission.
The MCC Search Committee seeks an outstanding, highly committed, innovative, and collaborative leader. The President will be a service leader, leading by example and fostering a culture that is student- and community-centered. As the chief ambassador for MCC, the President will strengthen partnerships and relationships with area businesses, industry, alumni, local and state government, and other educational institutions and organizations. In this manner, s/he will also act as chief advancement officer, broadly defined, for the college.
Candidates for the position should have a track record of success in internal management, strategic planning, finance, and administration, as well as a commitment to supporting community outreach and diversity. Prior experience managing in a collaborative union setting is desirable. An earned doctorate is preferred, but not required. Alternatively, experience leading and managing in large, complex organizations, public or private, will also be considered.
MCC has retained Isaacson, Miller, a national executive search firm, to assist in the recruitment of the new President.
