Location

Job Description

Applications and nominations are invited for outstanding candidates to assume the position of Superintendent of the Pasadena Area Community College District and President of Pasadena City College. The Superintendent/President is the chief executive officer of the District and the College and reports to a seven-member Board of Trustees elected by community residents of their respective geographical areas. An eighth member joins the Board as a student-elected trustee.

Founded in 1924, Pasadena City College is one of the largest and most accomplished among the 110 community colleges in California. Enrolling over 31,000 students each semester—26,000 for credit and nearly 6,000 non-credit—the College serves its home city of Pasadena and nine local communities in the San Gabriel Valley. Approximately one-third of PCC’s students come from these areas; others come from the greater Los Angeles region, other states, and the world. PCC occupies a beautiful 53-acre central campus in the heart of Pasadena with two nearby sites for the Community Education Center and Child Development Center

This presidency offers an attractive opportunity to serve and guide a historically strong and successful community college that is well positioned to continue as one of the finest institutions in California. The Board of Trustees seeks a dynamic president to provide the leadership and strategic direction necessary to accomplish the College’s mission and address the challenges faced in the 21st century. The successful candidate will recognize this opportunity, embrace it eagerly, and contribute the leadership crucial to the College’s future. The preferred starting date is August, 1, 2010.
