The College of the Mainland Board of Trustees

is currently seeking applicants and nominees for the position of

COLLEGE OF THE MAINLAND PRESIDENT

College of the Mainland (COM) is a comprehensive, two-year community college serving the mainland portion of Galveston County. The college is situated on a beautiful 120-acre campus in Texas City, 30 miles southeast of Houston, the nation’s fourth largest city, and 15 miles from Galveston Island, a resort community.

The college enrolls approximately 3,800 students in the Fall in credit programs leading to associate degrees in college transfer programs or in technical programs leading directly to careers, in addition to a variety of certificate programs. COM is the major source for the trained workforce for healthcare organizations, public safety agencies and the petrochemical industry in addition to other businesses in the area. Approximately 10,000 students enroll in Continuing Education classes annually. COM values diversity and its student body represents well the diversity of the region, with 19 percent of the students being Hispanic and 18 percent African-American.
