Located between Los Angeles and San Diego and stretching from the Santa Ana Mountains to the Pacific Ocean, the district’s 282 square mile service area encompasses the southern half of Orange County, one of the California’s most scenic and rapidly growing regions.

Assistant Dean, Counseling Services and Special Programs

Saddleback College

Under the general direction of the Dean of Counseling Services and Special Programs of Saddleback College, the Assistant Dean of Counseling Services and Special Programs is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, supervising and evaluating all aspects of categorical programs, such as DSPS, EOPS, CARE, CalWORKS, for development and administration of grants related to categorical programs and for all student outreach and retention efforts; and to develop and administer budgets for all special programs.

Requires a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Ability to meet minimum qualifications to teach credit courses through a college division or serve as faculty/counselor in a California Community College. Completion of six units of college level course work predominantly relating to ethnic minorities or persons limited by educational, language, social disadvantages, or disabilities. Experience Required: Minimum of two years full time managerial, administrative, faculty teaching and/or counseling experience at the postsecondary level or the equivalent. Minimum of one year experience as a manager or administrator responsible for the supervision and evaluation of faculty and classified staff or the equivalent. Experience working with and evidence of a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, physically challenged, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Compensation: Salary range of $116,555 to $141,807 per year, a comprehensive package of insurance benefits and 24 days of vacation leave per year.
