Job Description

Summary of Position:  Reporting to the President, serves as the College’s chief academic officer responsible for directing and managing academic instruction, programs, services; providing leadership and direction to faculty on curriculum, program development, and teaching effectiveness; and advising the President on all academic matters.  

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Education:  Master’s degree from a recognized college or university required.    Doctorate degree desired.

 

Experience: Ten (10) years of experience in academic administration in higher education including administrative or supervisory duties concerned with curriculum and program planning, development, and assessment; fiscal, personnel, and operational management; and strategic planning. 

 

Additional Desired Qualifications:  Demonstrated academic leadership. Knowledge and experience with  instructional technologies.  Administrative experience in a collective bargaining environment.  Strong communication, organizational, and management skills.  Demonstrated ability to identify, resolve, and consult on a wide range of administrative and personnel issues while focusing on institutional needs and priorities.  Understanding of innovative and entrepreneurial approaches to the academic enterprise would be valued.  Ability to work well in a team environment.  Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.   Ability to evaluate and analyze program effectiveness and resource utilization.  Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in the performance of duties.  Project management skills including the ability to define projects, prioritize and manage multiple projects, measure and evaluate progress and outcomes, and meet timelines while producing quality work.  Proficient in the use of technology, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other graphic presentation software.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, recommend and implement solutions in a timely fashion.  Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by management.
