Job Description

The Aiken County Commission for Technical and Comprehensive Education is seeking applications and nominations for the President of Aiken Technical College.  Following a successful sixteen year tenure, the current President has announced the intent to retire July 1, 2016.  Located in the Central Savannah River Area of South Carolina, the College serves approximately 3,400 credit students and 5,000 non-credit students annually.  Aiken County is known for its quality of life and robust economic base with a diverse population of 165,000.  The College offers a wide variety of career-oriented academic degree, diploma, and certificate programs supporting the needs of area employers and the Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees transferable to senior colleges and universities.  The College employs a permanent faculty and staff of 137.  Aiken Technical College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools-Commission on Colleges and is known for its innovative partnerships with area employers, educational institutions, military, and non-profit organizations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·        Master’s degree required; an earned doctorate is strongly preferred.

·        Ten years of progressively responsible experiences in postsecondary education and/or senior level administration; prior experience in executive level postsecondary education leadership is strongly preferred.

 

The Aiken County Commission for Technical and Comprehensive Education is seeking a high-energy, ethical, visionary, and collaborative leader who possesses the following profile:

       skills appropriate for both internal and

       external audiences;

·        A commitment to affirmative action and to achieving a climate that promotes cultural, ethnic and gender diversity;

·        A commitment to fully engaging with

      community leaders in economic development 

      initiatives;

·        A strong knowledge of fiscal management and a commitment to resource development to include fundraising;

·        A demonstrated ability to work with local, state and national elected officials to achieve college goals;

·        A successful record of promoting partnerships with various constituencies including other educational agencies, business and industry, military and community groups;

·        An open, proactive, creative and

      entrepreneurial style of leadership;

·        An understanding of College Commission functions and establishing positive Commission relationships;

·        An understanding of the relationship of the College to the Technical College System;

·        A commitment to the use of technology to improve student learning, to deliver high quality instruction via distance education, and to support excellence in delivering services to students and in achieving administrative efficiency;

·        A record of using data to achieve a culture of continuous improvement;

·        A commitment to maintaining and securing the physical assets of the College; and;

·        A commitment to supporting professional

      development for all college personnel.
