The Opportunity

York Technical College is seeking a highly talented professional to serve as this key member of its executive leadership team. The Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Services has a critical role in the continuing transformation and growth of the College. This visionary leader supports the advancement of the College’s mission and commitment to student success.

As a strategic thinker, prudent risk-taker, and assertive, respectful leader, the Executive Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs serves as the chief academic and student services officer of the College. This senior administrator is responsible for the strategic planning, development, execution, and overall quality of the College’s academic programs and student services.

The Qualifications

A master’s degree is required; an earned doctorate is strongly preferred. The successful candidate must have at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in postsecondary education and/or senior level administration. Candidates with an equivalent combination of exceptional leadership and educational experiences will be seriously considered.

This key leader will have:
• The ability to demonstrate effective educational leadership, emphasizing teaching, learning, and achieving student outcomes
• A commitment to technological innovation and economic development and growth for the region as well as a keen sensitivity to the educational, economic, and cultural needs of a diverse population
• A proven track record in the areas of academic affairs, student services, enrollment management, continuing education, program development and sustainability, and administration
• Demonstrated ability to cultivate strong working relationships and function effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including governing boards
• Displayed evidence of the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with business, industry, the general public, civic, and political organizations, as well as educational and governmental entities, and economic development partners

The College

Established in 1964, York Technical College is one of 16 colleges in the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the state’s economic growth and development by providing critical educational and training pathways that positively impact the more than 340,000 citizens of York, Chester, and Lancaster counties in South Carolina.

The 118-acre main campus is in Rock Hill. The College has six off-campus centers and facilities throughout the three-county service area. The College provides students high-quality learning and training environments.

The College enrolls more than 7,000 credit students in nearly 80 programs of study. Academic divisions and programs include Business, Computer, Arts & Sciences; Health & Human Services; Industrial & Engineering Technologies; Center for Teaching and Learning; and Corporate and Continuing Education.

Through the College’s dual enrollment program, high school students are able to jump start their college education by earning college credits while still in high school.

York Tech awards Associate in Applied Science, Associate in Arts, and Associate in Science degrees. Students who earn an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science Degree are prepared for a smooth transition to a four-year college or university. The College also has diploma and certificate programs.

The College offers a comprehensive selection of corporate and continuing education courses designed to promote occupational advancement, personal interest, and business and industry growth.

The Student Activities Office engages students through educational, cultural, and social events and activities. It also provides students with opportunities to develop leadership, interpersonal, social, team-building, and problem-solving skills.

The College offers a broad spectrum of academic, instructional, and student support services and resources, such as academic coaching and tutoring, counseling and career services, financial aid, and academic advising. Each one is designed to help students achieve their academic, career, and personal goals.

York Technical College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. The College also holds national accreditations for several of its programs.
